Ian, good luck with your efforts!
Certainly Sir Ken Robinson (The Element) is an excellent place to start. Also check the work of Richard N. Bolles (What Color Is Your Parachute?) and the Partnership for 21st Century Skills. As you explore the concepts of P21, you will probably find the work of Thomas L. Friedman (The World Is Flat) and Don Tapscott (Wikinomics) to be relevant.
Sir Ken Robinson does a great job of stating the problem. You then need to look elsewhere for the details of the solution.
I believe that you should contact each of these resources (and more) after you believe you fully understand their basic ideas/mission. Ask how you can partner with them, promoting their tools and perhaps getting free resources from them.
I'm currently working with existing schools on similar goals. Let's keep in touch.

Description
I am planning to start my own school. The most important aspect of my school is that it will focus on helping students find what it is they have a passion for as well as an aptitude for and then helping them develop in that area. If you have any advice for me or can help me, please let me know. Thanks.

Ed,
I really appreciate your comments and suggestions. "The Element" is probably my biggest inspiration. I'm going to read "What Color is My Parachute?". Also I'm going to look into the Partnership for 21st Century Skills. Your idea of the kind of students I should be looking for is intriguing, too. Parents that would like to "guarantee" their child a future. That would be the expected outcome of my school because if students were to discover their Element, that which they have a passion and a talent for, and they follow that path fearlessly, I think their future would be guaranteed. I know that it's not just the discovering of a student's element that is important. But the nurturing of that discovery and all that that entails is of utmost importance, too. Thanks again for your insights and ideas. Ian Vandrick
