Hi Adam - My school has two class sets of the senteo clickers. I work at an elementary school (K-5) and the 4th and 5th grade teachers are using them more and more. They really are incredibly easy to set up, especially if you're just looking for anonymous instant feedback. If a teacher wants to setup their class lists it's a bit more involved, but still not very hard. It integrates with the Smart Notebook software. The teachers in our Middle and High Schools are using this technology a lot! I see that you are a high school teacher. I have noticed that it just takes one or two brave teachers to take the plunge and get into it, and the rest will follow. The ability to instantly assess an entire classroom is priceless. I say...go for it! I hope this helps...I'm happy to help if you have any detailed questions.

Very cool, Randi. Thank you for sharing. I haven't found a use for Augmented Reality in the classroom either...YET! I believe we will see a lot more of this technology in the near future. It's exciting to me!

Hey there! :-) I'm new to this site and just trying to navigate my way around to network and speak with other like-minded people about the school system that I'm currently developing: Alinkage Public School, A Holistic Approach to Learnig. We are creating a website to further ongoing disucssions about this new approach to learning, but you can also get a better view of where I'm coming from by visiting www.facebook.com/apsglobal or www.twitter.com/alinkageschool

Hope to hear back from you :-)

Just posted the GE Smart Grid video. It's a great example of the the Augmented Reality technology. Imagine the possibilities...holding a textbook up to your screen and having a 3D hologram pop out!

How about the Chromebook? I've read that tablets are the future, but with touchscreen keyboards and software issues (not too mention high costs), isn't the cheaper, laptop-style Chromebook a better integrated piece of student hardware?
HeryHery on Thursday, 14 July 2011 15:43

One requirement for Chromebook is it has to connected with the Internet. The machines is cheap, but not always with the Internet services. Software is not a problem anymore, because with availability of social media, social software, and cloud computing, many free version available in the web. For instances, Google Docs and Zoho Writer will be a good replacement for Microsoft Office; picnik is a good alternative to replace adobe photoshop; dropbox is good for online storage; and many more. I will be happy to share the free online tools based on your need in this forum.

Yes! We need a group, too! Anyone interested in skype or email for next year?
Joanne NajarianJoanne Najarian on Thursday, 09 June 2011 10:38

I would be interested in skype for next year.

I too would like to setup classroom video conferencing for next school year! We could start a separate group for teachers/classrooms looking to connect, maybe?

linda mcdermonlinda mcdermon on Tuesday, 14 June 2011 11:40

Yes, skype, h.323 videoconferencing - I want to do both next year. It will depend on school hours and time zones we are in - we come back in August, so maybe we can look at our schedules then. Some conferences we do are monthly, some are once only, some are bi-weekly - I'm flexible.

Hai all...in the forum 1000guru (http://1000guru.net/), teleconference with Skype has been proved be able to connect voluntary teachers from everywhere with schools in Indonesia. Skype is really amazing tool. Besides Skype there are some alternative for teleconference: 1) I use WizIQ for conducting my free classes every month (check: http://wiziq.com); 2) join.me (http://join.me) is effective for meeting online without need a login account; and 3) Google+ has a hangout, where people can interact with their circles' members. Sound promising to look at more classroom video conferencing. Oh...one more, in our college of educationa, university of Hawaii at Manoa, Elluminate is widely used for online and hybrid class. While it is not free, the free version with limited number of party (3 person) is very helpful for our online students to collaborate on finishing class project.
